Da Laoban (大老板), which is the Chinese terms of "Big Boss", features a combination of real life stories focusing on the dynamics of day-to-day business scenarios. It is a Business Chinese Video Series for Intermediate and Advanced Learners. Each video combines reality TV style entertainment and education to create a valuable learning tool. Broken down into three learning modes there is the STORY mode seen as a movie using to view the whole context, the LEARNING mode where two hosts guide you through the key language points, and the SITUATIONAL mode which recalls cases from the story.
Da Laoban is based around the story of a General Manager who puts his four managers through a series of tests to determine who will become the next 'big boss'. The tests cover all 24 most common business situations of doing business in China. Two presenters then help guide the viewer through the teaching process, one scenario at a time.
